Why Your Personal Brand Matters
Personal branding has become a bit of a buzzword that is sometimes associated with the idea of being salesy and even fake, or a topic that only the rich and famous should care about. This could not be further from the truth.
The truth is we all have a personal brand, otherwise known as our reputation.
This is not about being liked by everyone. On the contrary, when you try to appeal to everybody, you end up appealing to nobody. However, ask yourself these questions:
Are you aware of how people perceive you? And is that in line with the message that you want to send out? Do people even know who you are and what you do?
If you are good at what you do but you are not getting promoted or you are not attracting your ideal clients, the problem could be related to how you are defining and communicating your personal brand. Either not many people know about you and the value you offer, or you are not communicating your brand clearly and effectively enough to be the first choice for people when they need someone with your particular expertise. So, in the end: they don’t reach out to you, they don’t put you forward, or recommend you to others.
I’ve seen this a lot in the corporate and business world, and it’s for this reason that I’m passionate about personal branding.
There are many professionals out there with similar skills and credentials as you have, but you don’t want to be one of many, you want a potential client or an employer to say “I want to work with YOU”.
I believe that if you are willing to work on yourself and step up your game, you too can create the opportunities you deserve!
In my video below, I talk about what your personal brand really is and why personal branding is so important.
